Drowsy Driver Crashes Into E-Bike in Albuquerque
Early on a Sunday morning in May 2026, a Walmart employee was driving home from work after working the overnight shift. Near the intersection of Carlisle Boulevard and Claremont, he struck an e-bike. The e-bike rider, a 47-year-old man, was transported to the hospital in critical condition; he died later that day. The driver of the car remained at the scene of the accident, but he is facing criminal charges, including tampering with evidence.
Motorcycle Passenger Dies After Collision With Car
In August 2025, a black truck struck the rear of a motorcycle at the intersection of San Pedro Drive and Menaul Boulevard in Albuquerque. The truck left the scene, but surveillance video showed it running over one of the ejected riders. The man who had been driving the motorcycle suffered serious injuries, and the passenger, a 37-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police eventually arrested the driver on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. The at-fault driver was serving a probation sentence at the time of the accident. He had been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a shooting at a car wash, but the judge had allowed him to serve his six-year sentence on probation instead of in prison. If he is convicted of the vehicular homicide charge, he could serve a longer prison sentence.
Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident After Visiting Newborn Granddaughter
Valentine’s Day 2026 was a joyous time for a new grandfather from New Mexico, but soon afterward, things took a turn toward disaster. The man traveled to Arizona to visit his daughter and her newborn daughter, his first grandchild. While he was in Arizona, he also bought a new motorcycle. For a brief moment, it appeared that the best was yet to come.
When he drove home to New Mexico, though, tragedy struck. A truck hit his motorcycle from behind and then left the scene. As of April 2026, police still had not identified the driver who caused the accident.
